What are the 3 categories of Back Pain?

Back pain is a common condition that can be classified into three main categories:

Acute pain: This is a common type of back pain and is usually caused by muscle strain, sprain or injury. Acute pain usually lasts for a short period, generally less than six weeks and can be resolved with proper rest and treatment.

Sub-acute pain: Sub-acute pain lasts between six weeks and three months. Various conditions, such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or osteoarthritis, can cause it.

Chronic pain: This back pain lasts more than three months and is often caused by degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, or fibromyalgia. Chronic pain can be challenging to manage, and the person might need a combination of treatments, such as physical therapy, medications, and lifestyle changes to manage symptoms.

It's important to note that the above classification is just a general guideline, and the underlying causes and the duration of the pain can vary from person to person. Therefore, it's always recommended to seek help from a chiropractor to accurately determine the type and causes of your pain and get the most appropriate treatment.
